Re: Diafra Sakho
I'm confused by these "reports". Is the allegation that he was on track to be back but suffered a setback in rehab that will keep him out another month to regain fitness? Or is he just way behind schedule in building fitness, and will need at least another month before he can train with the first team?

If it's the latter, then this is just another example of the clown-circus that is our PR department who were representing as recently as two weeks ago he would be back for Swansea.

If you believe the press (The Sun) and Ian Wright we'll have a forward line of Joshua King and Jermaine Defoe.

Re: Diafra Sakho
He has had back surgery and played about 5 mins of football this season.
As said he may actually be training but I'd expect a minimum of a month before he could play any sort of (development team) game and another month before he could look at playing a higher level.
Still reckon his first appearance at London Stadium will be walking around the pitch after the last home game of the season.
Just better hope Carroll stays fit

From todays Mail

Bilic can expect little help from Diafra Sakho in the battle to keep his job.
The Senegal striker is unlikely to play again this season, having been sidelined since suffering a back injury in November which required surgery.

Bilic had been in line for a new contract with the club but those talks could be shelved

Sakho is back in light training but he will need a lengthy period to rebuild fitness.
Stijn Vandenbroucke, head of medical and sports science, told the club website: ‘We must be mindful that Diaf is essentially at the start of his own personal pre-season training schedule.
‘After surgery and three months of rehab, a player needs time before we can contemplate making him available for selection.’

As this bloke isn't the type to work hard at his rehab and training it's pretty clear now that he won't play again this season.

So the Metro says he probably won't play this season, but C&H say he might play against Swansea....

Who to believe? Probably neither.

Re: Diafra Sakho
In all seriousness, and this won't happen as our transfer policy is a complete shambles, we need to make some tough choices over summer. I have said it before but we have a lot of OK players and injury prone players. No point having any of them on the books anymore so they need to get shot of them all no matter what the cost and buy fit hungry decent players who can take the club forward. The only Manager I have ever known good in this area was Harry. Easier said than done yes but until we do this we will continue going backwards. We do have some decent players like Lanzini, Reid, Creswell and Antonio but not enough.

He doesnt strike me either as a pro who will work his nuts off to ensure every bit of his recovery/rehab goes as well as possible. Get rid as soon as we can, rare that players come back from injury probs as severe as his and dont continue to pick up other niggles

Re: Diafra Sakho
Yep Trevor, I was aware of the backstory regarding his op. I'm hoping that the time off has given him an opportunity to reflect and possibly mature a bit, and he comes back the player we all know he is capable of being. That is unless the club haven't already made up their mind he's gone and are deliberately delaying his comeback to avoid him picking up another injury.

Bexley

The most annoying thing about Sakho and this injury is that after his first season the club wanted him to have the operation, instead he took a second opinion from the Senegalese doctor and refused to have the op. Obviously he was in and out of the team last season with this injury and various others related to it. It also didn't help that the Senegal team demanded he met up for international fixtures and training when he wasn't fit and actually made the problem worse by giving him incorrect treatment. He pissed the club off so much with his refusal to have the op that's why they wanted shot of him, obviously he didn't end up moving to WBA, some have said that Pulis pulled out of the deal before he even had a medical after getting hold of his medical file from somewhere. So now we are pretty much stuck with him. If we can't get him fit enough to sell then I can see the club paying him off in the summer.

Re: Diafra Sakho
I'm looking forward to seeing Sakho put the shirt back on again. I was of the opinion that his back injury was pretty unique and required quite a specialist operation to get resolved, so am hopeful that the worst is past him now.

Misguided optimism maybe? No doubt after the first heavy challenge 10 minutes into his comeback he'll crumble into a fine powder.

Jan: we dont need a new strike because we got Andy Carroll fit and on form and sakho could be back in 6 weeks.

I wonder if the daves eternal optimism comes easier knowing they wernt spending any of that payet wedge?
